Sleepless in Mangalore !!

Sleep. An everyday event or more like an every night event taking into consideration that my reader is not an Owl or a Bat. In my creative-bug-bite-and-looking-for-a-good-topic-to-write-about state of mind, I made the biggest mistake of looking up "sleep" @ wikipedia. The result - i am not sleepy after reading it. You know why, like everything about nature not wanting to be linked to the wonder of god's creation,  the scientists out there have conceptualized sleep. We dont realize how complex a process sleep is until you read this wikipedia page . Apparently a person will die of sleep deprivation before he/she will die of starvation. It takes a person two weeks to starve to death whereas death due to sleep deprivation takes only ten days. After having read this statistic, i was left wondering how the scientists tested this. I mean, What would that experiment look like.

Subject A - Male/Female - aged blah blah blah...
 - under starvation since......

Subject B - Male/Female - aged yada yada yada....
 - not allowed to sleep since...

Result -  Subject B dies in ten days and Subject A dies in 14 days.

Observation - Worst kind of torture.. quarter those scientists dude...

So, here i am in my wakeful state wondering why does'nt my brain release the chemical melatonin into my bloodstream which will cause me to sleep. Again, the thought process begins and i research some more, and come across a few articles on how this particular phenomenon was researched by the armed forced all over the world to manipulate. While experimenting on one of our ancestor, M for Monkey, they discovered the chemical that induces sleep and cooked up a chemical that would act against these hormones being generated by our body. This particular chemical, along with a very potential assortment of other sythetic drugs was administered to the soldiers regularly. This energy mixture caused the soldiers to remain awake upto 36 hours so that that they would eventually take out the opposing normal forces when they would be exhausted and barely be awake. God, no wonder im awake.

Situation scary. !!

  1. Hey Krish...Great start!! Let me also say that its quite ironic that you chose this topic to start your blogging, seeing that you are a great fan of sleep yourself...I am still wondering why you couldn't sleep that night...may be because the time to start writing your own articles had finally come!!!
Keep making us laugh with more!!!!!!
